About Dr. Uday Devaskar
Dr. Uday Devaskar is a distinguished neonatologist, professor of pediatrics at the UCLA School of Medicine in Los Angeles, and an accomplished author and creative storyteller.
Born and raised in Baroda, Gujarat, India, Dr. Devaskar moved to the United States in 1973 to pursue advanced medical training. Over the course of his career, he has become widely recognized for his pioneering contributions to neonatal medicine and his dedication to improving the survival and development of premature and critically ill newborns.
As a physician-scientist, Dr. Devaskar’s research has significantly advanced the understanding of newborn physiology, neonatal nutrition, and infant development. His work has helped shape modern approaches to neonatal care and has influenced clinical practices worldwide.
